Fires Fade

“The world is a corpse, its crumbling pillars and ruined roads, the ribs and spine of a skeleton that has long since been buried under the sands of time. The residents that roam these forgotten ruins are as dead as the dirt beneath their feet now. Walking corpses, specters of who they used to be with their memories and self faded away down to base instinct. The world has been pushed to its breaking point and the flame keeping it alive is but sputtering cinders now.

You are chosen undead, either through ancient prophecy passed through whispers, or a fate told by a cackling crone. You leave your homes behind to now journey into the heart of entropy itself. You will climb through abandoned temples, ruined cities, and blasted swamps filled with the terrors and mistakes of ages long past so you may get to the flame and make a choice: continue, or don't. Link the fire, or let all fall into an age of dark.

Hold your memories close for you will lose them, your ties to these places and their people. You cannot die in a true sense but what would be left of you would be but a shambling silhouette as everything that once was you is taken over and over and over again. So go on, fight your bloody way to the end and die again and again, but don't you dare go hollow.”

Fires Fade is a collaborative, GMless tabletop roleplaying game inspired by the Dark Souls series. You play as undead, exploring the crumbling lands around you and attempting to reach the flame so you can decide whether to keep the world going as it is or start it anew. The game is played through emotional and narrative driven resource management, and building the world around you as you go through it.  The game is generally best played with 3-5 players, and all you need to play is a few 6 sided dice and something to take notes with.

This game was made for the Better Soulslike Tabletop Jam, its both the first game jam I've ever been in and the first TTRPG I've ever written and published!
